Location: Grimsby Peach King Centre

Race times:  1k – 6:30p.m.   5k – 7:00 p.m.   10k -7:30 p.m.

Race Day Registration and Race Kit Pick up: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Peach King Centre

Points – The 10k is a points race in the Subaru of Hamilton Niagara Running Series  

 Directions: 85 kilometers from Toronto, 25 k from Hamilton and Burlington ,60 kilometers from Guelph, 55 kilometers from Niagara Falls and 50 miles from Buffalo.

  • QEW to Casablanca Blvd.
  • South (Away from the lake) on Casablanca Blvd. to Livingston Ave.
  • Turn left on Livingston Ave. 1 k to the Peach King Centre

 Parking: There is parking at the Peach King Centre – When this lot is full there is parking at Blessed Trinity Secondary School 300 meters East of the Peach King Centre. If you Park on side streets please avoid Roberts Road between Livingston and Regional 81 as this is the 5k race route.

 

Subaru Preferred Parking: Subaru Drivers will have the opportunity to park in preferred parking spots at the race.  

 

Bring memorabilia from Peach Buds past- Awards and prizes for the oldest memorabilia  

Finish Photo- will be at the start and finish lines taking pictures. When you purchase your souvenir race photo $1 from each purchase will be donated to the W.L. M.H.F.  www.finish-photo.com

Downtown Street Party - New this year both the 5k and 10k routes will go through down town Grimsby and the DIA is planning a street party. Grimsby is known as Friendly by Nature and they will prove it. The downtown will be closed at 5 p.m. and closed until midnight. The race will travel through the area at 2k for the 5k and 5k for the 10k. After the race go back and check out what downtown Grimsby has to offer.

 

Teddy’s Food Fun and Spirits

Teddy is a long time sponsor of the Tim Hortons Peachbud 10k and is having the patio extended for race night. Teddy is excited about the races coming by the restaurant and is inviting spectators to watch from there. There will be a BBQ and a Coors light tall boys will be on ice. Runners are invited to come back after the run. Teddy is located at 30 Main Street West.  

 

Judge & Jester  would like to offer all your Runners and their friends our Peach Bud Pasta for $11.99 on Race Day. This Pasta has Bell Peppers, Roma Tomatoes, Broccoli, Mushrooms, Zucchini & Baby Spinach in a Garlic Fresh Herb Olive Oil served on a bed of Whole Wheat Fettuccini topped with Chicken & Crumbled Feta Cheese.  Tuesday also happens to be Burger Day at the Judge with 12 different  choices of our Mouth Watering House Made Angus Burgers for ONLY  $5.49 Each. Merrell Shoe Drive: Volunteers will be walking downtown with Merrell shoes asking for loonie and  or toonie donations for the West Lincoln Memorial hospital Foundation

Food at the race: There will be plenty of food for the runners after the race including  Bagels from Dempsters, drinks, fruit, yogurt and cookies from Tim Hortons.

 

Dempsters finish line spectator food and beverage: Demspters will  have a  BBQ at the finish line area. Spectators and runners can purchase hot dogs and beverage. $2 for hot dogs. All proceeds will be donated to the West Lincoln Memorial hospital Foundation.

Aid Stations: 10k - Aid stations are located at 1.5k, 2.5k,4k,5k,7k,8.5k  Aid Stations will serve water.

There will be an Amino- Vital Station located at 5k www.Amino-vital.com

Finish Line: Due to construction at the Town Hall the finish line for this year’s race will be on the soccer field adjacent to the normal finish line. The course has been re measured and certified.

 

Finisher medals: for all 10k finishers – see the medals on the web site

 

Medical: Provided by St. John ambulance. There will be bicycles on route as well as an ambulance at the finish line. Aid stations will have contact with the medical team. 

 

Keeping cool – The Grimsby Fire Fighters Association will have a fire truck at half way in the 10k and 2k in the 5k that will provide a refreshing cool down spray for those who wish.

There is also a Splash pad at the finish line

 

Guest race starter:  The original Race Director Bob Krouse will fire the starting horn for the races. Bob was the race director of the race from 1981 to 1989.  Thanks Bob for starting this race as well as the original in 1981.  

 

Race Announcer:  Subaru of Hamilton Running Series race announcer Brian Hutchings will be at the start and finish line giving you all the race details and announcing your name as you cross the finish line.

 

Motivation Station: The Town of Grimsby will have a motivation station where spectators can make signs to cheer on their favorite runners 

 

Musical entertainment:

  • Aisha Johnston will sing the National Anthem at the start of the 10k
  • Start/ Finish -The Tod Pyper Trio will perform classic rock and modern country hits.
  • 5k – Along for the Ride will be playing classic rock hits 

        (2k for the 5k)

  • 7k – Big Ben and his band will be playing country hits 

             ( 3.5k for the 5k)

Charity challenge- You Raised $20,006.34 in 2009  The Peachbud 10k will be raising funds for the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation, which is supporting the new hospital building initiative and its drive to raise money to purchase the necessary state of the art equipment.  Our goal is to get every runner in this year’s Peachbud to collect pledges to raise money for our new hospital equipment or to make a donation. Subaru of Hamilton Charity Chase- Featuring Lisa Bentley

The Subaru of Hamilton Charity Chase will feature eleven time ironman champion Lisa Bentley. Lisa will start the race last, seeking sponsorship for every runner that she passes along the route. Subaru of Hamilton is starting things off by pledging $1 for every runner that Lisa passes in hopes that others will sponsor as well. Merrell Canada is sponsoring $1 per runner and Dundee Securities is sponsoring 50 cents per runner.
